How a crazy story inspired our brand.
30 second version
A family of pigs were shipwrecked on an uninhabited island in the Bahamas. The clever pigs learned to mould and adapt to their environment. The fun and clever SeaPigs swim in the ocean and live on the beach, which has now become known as Pig Island. These are the pigs that have inspired our brand, whose spirit we intend to emulate in our work.
5 minute version
The Tale of Pig Island is a big part of the SeaPigs story and the entire inspiration behind the overall look of our brand. The story resonated with us as an example of the beauty of nature, and a combination of land and sea. We were impacted by the predicament and perseverance of the pigs, and strive to possess a similar tenacity as we persevere with the problem that is before us: the current state of our environment and the devastating impact that the fashion industry (Fashions Dirty Secrets Blog) is having on the world.
Like our brand ambassadors from Pig Island, we are keen to learn as much as we can from what is around us - not only in the sense of learning from our planet, but learning from our happy Herd of customers. We know that only you have the power to inform us on what you want, and we strive to meet your desires in a co-creation process between consumer and brand. Just like the pigs adapted to Pig Island, we will endeavour to adapt to whatever you tell us that you’re crying out for.
We want to make it clear to all of our customers that while we are a serious brand that is focused on tackling very real and pressing issues, we still have the capacity for lightheartedness and whimsy. Our brand aims to inform without preaching and giving our customers a lecture - just encouraging a more planet-productive consumerism. Our message and our values are so important, but we want to share positivity for the future of our planet rather than resigning ourselves to doom and gloom. We want our Herd that follows us to be inspired by our message to take better care of plastic waste, rather than feel cajoled into doing things a certain way - reach your own conclusions.
