Why is a Beach Footwear brand selling Reusable Water Bottles?

We are keen to reward the people who help us out, so after a year putting SeaPigs together we decided to give our followers something in line with our cause. 2 million water bottles are discarded every minute and all of us at SeaPigs use reusable water bottles. So we decided we would make 100 Limited Edition SeaPigs aluminium water bottles and give them away, but also ask every lucky person who received them to use them 100 times and we would save 10,000 plastic water bottles going to landfill or our oceans - which is pretty cool if you ask us. Also, they look lovely. Check out the images of the water bottle taken by The Herd.

We received so much praise about the bottles and people asking to buy them, we had to add them to our Kickstarter campaign. We chose the bottle very carefully and that's why it is predominantly aluminium. It's the only material that has a value at the end more than the expense of recycling it. Recycled aluminium also uses 95% less energy than mining it fresh. As you know our SeaPigs Promise is If We Make It - We Take It Back, and we will give you £10 for helping get the product back to us. We will then melt down the aluminium and make it into new bottles. The small amount of plastic in the bottle is essential for hygiene. We’ve said before that despite its general overuse, plastic is a product that is amazing and in this instance it is the best material to use. Plastic is not the problem - we are.

Over and snout,

SeaPigs
